T.I.

I just pick up the new T.I. c.d. Paper Trail. I love it. It reminds me of back in the day when every year it would be some lucky rappers' year. And that lucky rapper would make a classic album. That album would also be the best selling rap album of that year as if everybody agreed that this was the album to bump this year. O.k! Thinking back it was Beastie Boys (Licensed to ill '86) ToneLoc (Loced after Dark '88) N.W.A (Straight outta Compton '89) BDP-Pubic Enemy -DrDre-Snoop dog-Fugees-Eminem-etc,etc.... and now T.I.(Paper Trail '08) with good cause. In these days when most Hip Hop and I'm sorry to say this but its true. In these days when most Hip Hop sucks. Its rear to find a Hip Hop c.d. with 16 tracks that bump hit after hit. It's just one of those c.d.'s that you will listen to over and over in you car, in the club, at a house party, out your radio everytime you turn it on. And trust me if you love hip hop you will own this c.d. Thats Word!

Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy

The first time I ever heard Michael Franti was when he was in a group called the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. I was listening to college radio (stcc) it was 1992 and Public Enemy and Boogie Down Produtions were kinda winding down. But then I heard the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy and they blow me away. The whole c.d. is great. Michael Franti hit me off with so much info I kept rewinding the c.d. over and over. His lyrics on this c.d. also stand the test of time. You know what they say "the more things change the more they stay the same." Anyways I kept waiting for another c.d. by these guys but it never happen. Michael Fanti did release a c.d. 5 years later with a group called Spearhead (Home). Spearhead is a great group and you should check them out. But I'm still waiting for the Heroes to return.

The Goats

I was sitting on the beach this morning listening to BackSpin on Sirius Satellite Radio. I love that channel it's old school hip-hop all the time. So as I was sitting there enjoying all the old school jams I started thinking about some groups that I loved that never really made it. First group that came to mind was the Goats. Their first c.d. "Tricks of the Shade" is great. It was maybe the first hip-hop concept album out. The story is great too. It's all about living in the early 90's in the Bush senor era. Their second c.d. "No Goats No Glory" is also great. Talk about a 180 in style though. They completely changed their sound. Once again one of the first hip-hop c.d. I heard with a live band on it. I highly recommend both these c.d. although "No Goats No Glory" might sounds less dated. I always wonder what happen to these guys. No VH1 behind the scene for these dudes. They don't even play them on Satellite. So if you can find these c.d.'s (good luck) buy them Yo!!!

Weezer

Headed down to Old Orchard Beach yesterday and busted out
Weezers first c.d. The self titled album dub (the Blue Album) 7 years later. This c.d. is a straight up classic. It's got to be over 10 years old now and it sound like it could have been recorded yesterday. I love all of their c.d.'s but this one is a great summer c.d. They also got a new c.d out (the Red Album).

Vampire Weekend

So I went out and bought the latest installment of geek rock "Vampire Weekend" I really like their single A-Punk & the rest of the c.d. is pretty, pretty good. But it left me kinda wanting to listen to the king's of geek rock themselves Weezer. Vampire Weekend has the same kind of feel in their muzic but without the kick ass guitar. I might even have to pull out the original geek rockers themselves the Cars. Which are one of my all time favorite bands. Anyways if you like this kind of music you should check out Vampire Weekend.

Selcie Please

I was out saturday night and stop into the Lighthouse for a drink and saw an old friend Chris. I hadn't seen him in about 2 years or maybe even longer. Anyways I've know him since high school. We started talking about what we were up to these days and what some others guys we hadn't seen in a while were up to. It was good to see Chris again. He hasn't change much which is good. He's still a cool M.F. I made a slide show awhile back that kinda takes me back to those high school years. My best friend Joe seen it and loved it. Its got all of us in it. Click on the frame to see it.

George Carlin

George Carlin was a great comedian. I was sad to hear that he died today. He was mostly know for his 7 dirty words act, but I loved him for his Parental Advisory c.d. My three favorite comedy c.d.'s are Bring the Pain -Chris Rock, Parental Advisory-George Carlin, and Raw-Eddie Murphy. These 3 c.d.'s make me laugh everytime. George Carlin could make you laugh and make you think at the same time. How many people can do that? He will be missed.

KingSpade

(KingSpade) the side project of D-Loc & Jonnie Richter from the KottonMouth Kings. I love K.M.K. So when I heard about Kingspade I went out and bought their c.d P.T.B. I loved it. So the next day I brought the c.d. to work for my friend Troy to listen to and he love it too. We played that c.d. out! It was an instant classic. So of course I went out and bought their first c.d. the self titled KINGSPADE. I loved it right away. But it took Troy a few listen to it first befor he liked it. But then after that it became another classic. We must of listen to those two c.d.'s for about 2 months straight. That's WORD!

Phil Collins

I'm feeling kinda Donnie Darko today. So I thought I'd listen to one of the most deppressing c.d.'s I've ever heard "Face Value". I'm not a big Phil Collins fan but this album is great "Start to Finish" I heard he was going though a divorce when he recorded it and that he was very depressed. Anyway I highly recommend it.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Here is a c.d. to listen to when your hard at work. Tom Petty's Greatest Hits. This c.d. is great "start to finish". Not one bad song. Which is good cause you don't wanna stop in the middle of working to skip a shitty song. This is one of the many "Greatest Hits or Best of" c.d.'s that I will recommend. "Hits" c.d.'s are great for artist's that you love but never really made a classic album befor. There are many artist like that. Their classic albums are their "Greatest Hits".

Here's a great c.d. you should listen to. If you want to laugh and forget about your problems for about 40 minutes and some seconds. I recommend any of the Bloodhound Gang c.d.'s their all great. But "One Fierce Beer Coaster" is their best.
